For the Memorial of St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe

I could have sworn that today was the Memorial of St. Maximilian Kolbe, but he's not on my Catholic Extension calendar for today. Weird. Oh well, I'm going to post this anyway!

Few men have contributed to the increase in devotion to our Blessed Mother than St. Maximilian Kolbe. Take some time out today to learn more about this great man and his teaching.

Excuse me if this sounds in any manner disrespectful but - Oh my gosh - I love this guy!

I saw a documentary entitled "Maximilian - Saint of Auschwitz performed by Leonardo Defilippis last year. What an incredibly inspiring story - a Saint in every sense of the word!

Truly not a story that is easily forgotten.

I'd heard of him,and then saw his story in the video, Ocean of Mercy, which also has the lives of St. Faustina and JPII What a powerful powerful display of "laying down one's life for one's friend." Pray for us St. Maximilian, for courage in the face of our enemy, to love all with a power more relentless than death.
