ReplyDeleteThe resources of the earth are finite. 6.5 billion people cannot consume at the same level as the average American.
The discussion tends to focus on population, not consumption or 'fair shares'. Some people focus on reducing the population of the poorest, even though an average Bangladeshi consumes 1/25 as much as the average American. Free marketers tend to deny there is a problem with their own consumption.
Ghandhi said there is enough in this world fo everyone's need but not for everyone's greed.
A true human-Christian approach is much more personally and politically challenging.
