Back to the Future

Here is the final installment of content that I have back-dated in order to fill in the gap that occurred while I was away from my blog, frustrating myself with other things:

I think I'm done. From here on in I'll be posting stuff on the day I actually write it (or soon thereafter).

Back in the Saddle Again

I'm BAAAAAAACKK! (Aerosmith anyone?). Don't worry, my wife had never heard of the song either, and when I started singing it, she just shook her head as if to say that I was irrefutably a lost cause.

At any rate, I have decided to resurrect my blog. I had never intended to go 5 months without posting. It just ... well .... happened. I wanted to redesign my blog, but then I got frustrated by the new Blogger template (with all of its "new" functionality, why do I feel like I can do less with the new template then I could with the old one?). Then I got frustrated with my miserable lack of web design skills. Then I got frustrated because I didn't know anyone who could actually sit down and help me with it. Then I just gave up.

That is, until last week, when, in the course of starting up her own blog, my wife happened to mention, "Ya know honey, you should post on your blog more. You haven't posted in 5 months." I was shocked that it had been that long and was compelled, with new vigor, to give it another go. I took another look at the new Blogger template, figured out a few ways to hack it into submission, and am now more or less happy with the outcome. Please let me know what you think of the new design.

Also, for the last few days I have been back-dating a bunch of stuff that I wrote in the course of those 5 lost months so that it doesn't look like I actually disappeared, and so that any new visitors who happen upon my blog will be able to say, "Look! This guy posts on a regular basis!" So, scroll down and watch as my blog travels through time and the large gaps between posts are magically filled in.

Thanks for reading!

September 11th in God's Eyes

Exactly 9 years ago today, 2,976 people died in the attacks upon the World Trade Center. As the Lord sees this horrific sight (for all things are known to Him in an instant), may He also here the following prayers:

  • Prayer for a Happy Death:
    • O my Lord and Savior, support me in my last hour by the strong arms of Thy sacraments, and the fragrance of Thy consolations. Let Thy absolving words be said over me, and the holy oil sign and seal me; and let your own body be my food, and Thy blood my sprinkling; and let Thy Mother Mary come to me, and my angel whisper peace to me, and Thy glorious saints and my own dear patrons smile on me, that in and through them all I may die as I desire to live, in Thy Church, in Thy faith, and in Thy love. Amen.

  • Daily Acceptance of Death:
    • Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I accept from your hands, whatever kind of death it may please you to send me today (tonight), with all its pains, penalties and sorrows, in reparation for my sins, for the souls in purgatory, for the conversion of sinners, for all those who will die today (tonight), and for your greater glory. Amen.

  • Prayer for the Dead:
    • Eternal rest, grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
